INSTALLATION KIT application comes in a compressed .ZIP file. You should decompress KIT.ZIP archive file in a newly created directory (named for example KIT). This release consists of the executable KIT.EXE, and its help files KIT.HLP and KIT.CNT. This program requires a freely available dynamic link library (ie. DLL) file named MIDIFILE.DLL and the Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0 runtime library (ie, DLL). Most systems should have a file named MSVCRT40.DLL in your Windows or System directory. If you don't have this file, contact the author. Before starting KIT.EXE executable file, you need to install shared library MIDIFILE.DLL to System directory and to set up Shared DLL registry key for it. To do that, start MIDIFILE.EXE executable file, which comes in .ZIP file. Then confirm installation of MIDIFILE.DLL library in System directory, and after that you are able to use your copy of KIT application. Before starting KIT application, you should make backup copies of all your files, which you want to use with KIT application. Also, you should look at KIT.HLP help file (Legal Notice Topic). If at any time you want to uninstall KIT application, you need to remove files that are decompressed from KIT.ZIP archive file. Also, you should remove Registry entry that KIT application create: MyComputer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MMISoft Beside .STY, .ARR, .PRG, .PCG, .ARK, .KBS, .GBL, .ARG, .IAF, .ISF, .IPF and .IDK files, KIT application generate standard MIDI files (.MID), when using Convert To MIDI function, as well as two temporary files: KIT.PAT and KIT.SEQ. Debug release of KIT application can produce some intermediate sysex file dumps (.ISX).
